People

Some of the people involved in the project at CERN and elsewhere.
Tim Berners-Lee
Inventor of the World Wide Web; wrote the original browser/editor, the first server and the specifications of HTML, HTTP and the addressing scheme. tbl@info.cern.ch
Robert Cailliau
Co-author of the project proposal; organises the project at CERN and the first W3 conference.
Nicola Pellow
Wrote the Line Mode Browser, so that W3 could be used from any terminal.
Jean-Francois Groff
Worked on the common code library and the tools.
Bernd Pollermann
Gateway to the CERN computer centre documentation and phone book.

Contributions from outside CERN include the X11 browsers Erwise (Helsinki University of Technology) and Viola (Pei Wei), and many servers.
