The software written at CERN for the project is placed in the public domain: anyone may use it, copy it and change it for any purpose. We ask only that CERN be acknowledged.
The protocols and formats (HTTP, HTML, the addressing scheme) are open and documented, so that anyone may write a browser or a server which works with the rest of the web.
Information on the web belongs to those who put it there. CERN is not responsible for the contents of documents on other servers.
