WorldWideWeb for NeXTStep

WorldWideWeb: the NeXTStep browser/editor

WorldWideWeb is the original W3 program, written by Tim Berners-Lee on a NeXT computer between October and December 1990.

It is both a browser and an editor: a document on the screen may be changed in place, and a link is made by selecting some text and choosing "Link to marked" from a menu. Links are followed by double-clicking. Several documents may be open in windows at once.

The program uses the NeXTStep text object, so documents are displayed with proportional fonts, several sizes of heading and paragraph formatting. It can also read news articles and files on FTP servers.

Because it runs only on NeXT machines, which are rare, the Line Mode Browser was written to make the web available to everybody.
